LGBTQ* characters and queer representation in contemporary musical theatre will explore musicals with LGBTQ* protagonists that have been written or revived since 2005.

These shows include Broadway and West End hits The Color Purple, Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Fun Home alongside off-Broadway and off-West End productions of The View Upstairs, Yank! and It's Only Life. The book highlights international productions including The Louder We Get and Come From Away alongside new work such as We Are The Tigers, Interstate, Operation Mincemeat and XY.

This website will be updated with new musicals and productions, so please use the contact page to get in touch if there is anything that needs adding.  The only criteria is that there has to be some way for the reader to experience the musical online. These pages will eventually link to individual show pages, but for now please use the buttons at the top of the page to navigate a list of contemporary LGBTQ musicals that are in the scope of the book.
